Shamans communicated with these spirit guides through dream, vision, symbol, and ceremony, wordlessly speaking of the invisible worlds that surround the fragment that is known. From her deep understanding of shamanic tradition, Susan Seddon Boulet (American, b. Brazil, 1941-1997) painted the mythical merging of animal and human into a coherent whole. The twelve inspired paintings here are accompanied by excerpts from Native American chants, prayers, and poems.
