When Cleo Cooper is hired to be the on-site geologist for a fracking operation on a North Carolina family farm, the last thing she expects is to stumble across a dead body. But while she is out exploring the wooded trails around the farm, Cleo finds a murdered man with an arrow sticking out of his back.
Worse, Sheriff Stuckey - with whom she has a bad past - shows up and is adamant that Cleo had something to do with the man's death. Suspicious that the sheriff is purposefully trying to pin the murder on her, Cleo decides to find the real killer on her own.
But as Cleo's past starts to jeopardize her present, and danger lurks around every turn, she has to act quickly. Will she get to the bottom of the murder before it is too late?
